Many people who are living with heart disease are also living with diabetes. If you have both of these conditions, you can join our cardiac rehab stream and also get access to diabetes-specific education. Your cardiac rehab supervisor will talk about exercising safely with heart disease and diabetes and connect you to some resources. Early awareness of blood sugar levels and healthy changes can reverse or slow the progression of diabetes and help prevent serious problems.
The diabetes program is delivered by a team that includes a cardiac rehab supervisor (trained in kinesiology, physiotherapy, or nursing), physician, dietitian, social worker, and a psychologist.
If you are living with diabetes, but you do not have heart disease, you can join our Diabetes, Exercise, and Healthy Lifestyle program. Learn more about this program in the myDiabetes Program section of Diabetes College.
