What Procedures Are Used to Treat Heart Disease?

When you are diagnosed with heart disease your doctor will talk to you about the ways to treat or manage your condition. Your doctor may refer you for one or more of the following treatments or procedures:

• Angioplasty (percutaneous coronary intervention or PCI), usually with a stent
• Coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG)
• Valve repair and replacement
• Heart devices - pacemakers including cardiac resynchronization therapy, implanted cardiac defibrillators (ICDs), and ventricular assist devices (VADs)
• Ablation
• Heart Transplant
